Knights of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem

This order was formed in 1099 AD after the capture of Jerusalem, and recognized by the Pope in 1113 AD. They provided hospitals and shelters for pilgrims on their way to the Holy Lands. These knights fought in almost every battle of the Crusades. This order still exists today.
